Dear Friend,

Over the past 15 years I've had the privilege of helping patients all across SE Alaska & surrounding suburbs with their carpal tunnel challenges.

Our clinic is different in that we dig, find, and FIX the root cause of the carpal tunnel. We don't simply "mask" the symptom with a medication.

We'll determine the cause which will then determine our course of action.

We also have different methods of reducing / minimizing INFLAMMATION in the body...so we'll look at things from a nutritional perspective and make recommendations that will reduce inflammation in the body.

If you're struggling with chronic carpal tunnel syndrome and can't get to the bottom of it, then give our clinic a call. Our methods are safe, natural, and highly effective.

What Is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) occurs when the median nerve, which runs from the forearm into the palm of the hand, becomes pressed or squeezed at the wrist. The median nerve provides feeling to the palm side of the thumb and to the index, middle, and part of the ring fingers. It also controls some small muscles at the base of the thumb.

Sometimes, thickening from the lining of irritated tendons or other swelling & inflammation can narrow the tunnel and cause the median nerve to be compressed. The result may be numbness, weakness, or sometimes pain in the hand and wrist, or occasionally in the forearm and arm. Carpal tunnel syndrome is the most common and widely known of the entrapment neuropathies.

Women are three times as prone to developing the condition as men.

Carpal Tunnel Symptoms Include:

  • Loss Of Strength
  • Sensation Of Pins & Needles In The Hand
  • Weak Grip Strength
  • Forearm Tenderness

How Do I Fix My Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

Diagnostic Challenges

Carpal tunnel syndrome cases can be tricky because it's often very hard to pinpoint the exact cause. There is research showing that some cases of carpal tunnel syndrome may be caused by repetitive motion (i.e. typing, manual labor etc.). Evidence suggests that genetics could play a role as well (i.e. some people simply have a smaller carpal tunnel than others).

CTS can be challenging to diagnosis. Often, misdiagnosed patients are suffering from another condition that exhibits similar symptoms, such as arthritis, subluxations or disc degeneration in the neck that can cause irritation of the median nerve.

Treatment

We strongly recommend seeking out non-invasive treatments / natural methods first if you suspect carpal tunnel syndrome.

It is often a very poorly managed condition within the medical community. It generally involves cortisone shots / more invasive methods designed to reduce inflammation / mask the pain / symptoms. Oftentimes a medical doctor will recommend surgery. I can't tell you how many patients I've seen that have had carpal tunnel surgery yet STILL HAVE SYMPTOMS. Why? Because they didn't dig, find, and fix the root cause. We always recommend to start with conservative treatments and go more invasive as a last resort.

The median nerve originates in the cervical spine. Chiropractors we can investigate and locate any potential interference in your spinal vertebrae that may be causing compression of the nerves.

Left untreated, the syndrome can cause permanent damage to the hand or thumb. If you think you may have carpal tunnel syndrome, call our clinic for consultation and we can determine if you're a case we can accept.

Chiropractic methods of treatment can include gentle adjustments of the wrist, elbow, and cervical spine...again, without

harmful surgeries, shots, or medications.

You Have Questions...We Have Answers!

  • What Happens On The First Visit?

Very simple. You'll meet with one of the doctors to discuss your concerns. A thorough health history will be performed follow by an examination / evaluation. From there if we think we can help, we'll tell you. If we think a referral to a specialist will be better suited for your needs, we'll provide that. During your 2nd visit is when we provide care plan instructions / recommended action plan moving forward.

  • Is Chiropractic Safe?

Chiropractic is widely recognized as one of the SAFESST, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of musculoskeletal complaints. Although chiropractic has an excellent safety record, no health treatment is completely free of potential adverse effects. The risks associated with chiropractic, however, are very small. Many patients feel immediate relief following a chiropractic adjustment, but some may experience mild muscle soreness, stiffness, similar to a post exercise muscle soreness. Current research shows that minor discomfort or soreness following spinal manipulation is typically gone within 24 hours.

  • Do You Take Insurance?

We will definitely check your insurance benefits to determine if they'll be able to help with your care plan. From there we'll provide with you the most cost effective way of getting the treatment you need.

  • Is Chiropractic Appropriate For Children?

Absolutely! We see of ton of kids at natural health solutions. Children are very physically active and experience many types of falls and traumas from activities of daily living as well as from participating in sports. Kids have spines (just like adults) and their spines need to be maintained throughout life as well. Chiropractic care is always modified to the individual. It is a highly skilled treatment, and in the case of children, we provide a very gentle approach.

  • If I Start Chiropractic Care - Do I Have To Keep Coming Back?

Our approach is hands on. Because of this it may require a number of visits to fix the underlying problem. In contrast, a course of treatment from medical doctors often involves a pre-established plan that is conducted at home (i.e. taking a course of antibiotics once a day for a couple of weeks or taking pain killers). As chiropractors we provide hands on treatments which makes a sequence of visits sometimes necessary. We will give you our best recommendations during your 2nd visit in our clinic.
